Poker: A Quick Look on the Rules of the Game
The game poker is a popular card game that is now sweeping the nation one country over the next. It is a game in which players gamble on the highest value of their card combination or in poker terms their "hand". In order to gamble their hands, they place a bet usually in the middle of the table called the "central pot" that other players place their bets in. The player who holds the hand that has the superior value or the player who stays in their respective hand during the game when all else have folded wins the hand or the game.
However, there are rules in evaluating hand rankings that players should know about before competing. The first is the cards that are ranked individually is from ace being the highest or ace high down to ace being the lowest or ace low (Ace [high], King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and Ace [low]). The ace low is only present when played with straight or straight flush. Individual card ranking is used to compare hands that contains no standard hand combinations, or used to evaluate the kickers when there are equal combinations between players.
The seconds rule is that the suits are not of importance in a poker game. It is only used in certain comparison such as when evaluating whether a combination matches a particular category an example of this is with a flush or a straight flush or even with a royal flush. So, when two players have similar hand combination except for their suit, it is then called a tie and players would then split the pot in two.
The third rule is more of a reminder that in a poker game, a hand contains five cards. In games that have more than five cards being used by each of the players, the hands are evaluated by selecting five cards that the player thinks is the best hand that can be challenged against the other players. The cards that are left after selecting the player's five-card combination are of no importance in concluding the winner of the hand.
The last is learning the combinations that are the standard ranking of any poker game. The royal flush, the straight flush, a four of a kind, a full house, a flush, a straight, a three of a kind, a two pair and a one pair.
Even though the game of poker requires skill to be played, rules of the game also have to be learned and taken into consideration before gambling those chips.
